Learning a new song was shot over the course of a trip across Germany, in August 2013. The photographs depict the nature we visit, live in and drive through and focuses on the static, contemplative moments of a road trip. The result is a sense of abandon that goes beyond the intrinsic nature of summer. It is about love, a ride suggested by objects as much as by humans — a fleetingness anchored through the stability of photographic composition. Taking these images crystalized a shift in my approach of photography. More than creating documents or a testimony of a moment, I wanted to capture sensations. That’s the new song I learned and that these photographs taught me. (2014)
